History

American Advertising Federation - Acadiana (AAF Acadiana) was first established in 1966 as Southwest Louisiana Ad Club. This club worked to assemble local industry professionals and build tradition, but when hard times fell upon the club in 1973, it was disbanded. Five years later, an energetic group in the industry came together and rebuilt the organization under the name Acadiana Advertising Federation.

Rebranding with the regional name of Acadiana more accurately reflected the area it encompassed. We are the home club to professionals across eight parishes: Saint Landry, Saint Mary, Saint Martin, Evangeline, Acadia, Lafayette, Iberia and Vermilion.

In 1981, we were officially accepted back into the American Advertising Federation. In 2009, the club was once again renamed to AAF Acadiana, along with most chapters nationwide that followed a recommendation from the AAF home office in Washington, D.C.

Over the years, the club has built a solid reputation and is a nationally competing club, participating in district and national conventions, and has had members holding office in both as well. Monica Hebert sat on the national AAF Board as our Division IV representative in 2001-02. The club is considered the life of the party at most gatherings, and the group that takes on a task with a vengence.

In 2001 and 2009, the AAF handled the 7th District ADDY Awards and put on shows not soon to be forgotten. AAF Acadiana participates in the 7th District "Mouth of the South" competition every year and placed first three times in a five-year period. The club is dedicated to acheiving success in every task it undertakes.

The club's current standing is Division III with more than 100 members.
